MLD 04-525          Colorado Private Land  (Hotchkiss Area)

Private land mule deer hunt in Unit 53 in west-central Colorado.  This little ranch has turned into a real sleeper for some really good muley bucks.  Irrigated pastures of alfalfa situated below cedar and oak brush covered hills produce a natural draw from the surrounding high country.  This is a small ranch, only 600 deeded acres, but adjoins 1600 acres of public conversation easement.  This is considered winter range for muleys, depending on high country snows to push the deer down.  2003 proved to be an unusually tough year on this hunt.  Hot weather and very little snow kept the bucks in the high country.  One exceptional, heavy 26" was harvested, despite the tough conditions.  If you're a seasoned hunter looking for a trophy buck, you really need to consider this one!!!  2004 is already fully booked...booking now for 2005!!
